Don't you guys have two first round picks? Shoot, trade Miller and you could get another one. Why on earth would you want to battle it out to finish 10th? Dont's listen to Garth he seems like an angry old man all the time.
Remember this is the East with 16 teams. Do you really think Buffalo has a chance to leap over 8 teams? Not worth it! Tank the season and get a boat load of nice picks in the draft.
I have a feeling that NYI pick is going to be a top 10.

Man, Ekblad with Erhoff, Myers, Zadorov and Ristolainen? Not baaaaaddd....

Isles pick is top 10 protected. If it is a top 10 pick, they can defer it to the 2015 draft.

The only way I see them doing that is if they are top 3. The Isles know that the draft next year is "stronger" than this one, supposedly.

As per Ted Black - "we have 4 teenagers on the team, we have a multitude of 1st and 2nd round picks, no other team can say that". Relax Sabre fans your team is in good hands with Darcy running the show.

Any Sabre fan that's buying this is a sucker. This is the worst non expansion team in the history of the NHL. The great thing about this is it's only going to get worst once they trade Miller. We're in November folks, enjoy the next 5.5 months knowing you have a couple of 1st and 2nd rounders.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they can’t play first period hockey the way that they play third period hockey.

that's because you're a dumbass GARTH. a 6-year-old could figure it out.

Yes but if it is not top 5, I'm not sure deferring is the best option. I base this on the hype I hear about the 2015 draft being loaded and '14 being weaker.

Did you ever think the Sabre's might "look" better the last 20 minutes only because the other teams get so bored playing them they go into a shell and let the Sabre's have the puck for a little while???

I feel for Ted Black, he has to sell this crap and is basially the frontline for all the misguided anger. Darcy and Terry wont come out and face anyone.

We have had 17 first and 2nd round picks in the last 4 years, or something like that. Thats great, turn it into something.

Hope for 11th then. Still get a solid player in that range.

Push Moulson to resign as well, you have the cap space and a rich owner to overpay. And if he doesn't, trade him at the deadline. Think he could garner a first round pick from a team? Probably.

Why is everyone acting surprised by this start? They are rebuilding and letting the young guys get experience. I still prefer watching this years team to the one we had the last two.

Unless Moulson has a terrible season with us i cant see him not fetching a first round pick. The guy is a 3x 30goal scorer in the past 4 years.

All these "kids" seam to be learning is how to handle the media after a loss. I expected to be bad and to be drafting in the top five but this is embarrassing. Clearly this is not a one problem thing than can be fixed overnight, but nothing is improving. I'll be the first to admit I do not completely understand the complexities of this game like I do for football and baseball, but this is ridiculous. Getting someone experience is great but is this really the best situation for our players development. I doubt it...

all i keep hearing from rolston is "the veterans have to play better". then why the hell are stafford and myers dressed for every game so far this season. these 2 clowns are a waste of 9 million dollars.

Score effects, mostly.

They're always behind in the third.

Please do not "fix" my posts as a quote.

REGIER needs to be fired, then the new GM has to come in and pick a new coach. Do you really trust Regier to pick another coach? He had opportunities last spring to get a good coach (re: Roy??) but chose a clone of himself.
REGIER is the one who has picked all these players, the coaching staff and even the scouts who advise him to pick up these stiffs, i.e. Grigo.

FIRE DARCY NOW!!!

Look, the only people that want Darcy Regier around are Terry Pegula and his advisors, and perhaps a few homers that live under a rock. It's common knowledge that has been repeated ad nauseum for ages that Regier needs to go. Unfortunately, that's not going to change. However, regardless of the GM, the team's performance under Rolston has been atrocious. It's one thing to assemble a sub-par team. It's another thing to have it look incredibly clueless for 40+ minutes a night. There's a lack of talent, and then there's a lack of preparation. The latter should never be the case. He needs to be fired as well.

Garth - I have to hand it to you, this is probably the best (if not the most emotionally engaging) post you've had on this site in the past 2 years (IMO anyways, which isn't saying much). Anyways, what I'm surprised you haven't taken to on here is the big deal that was made about Matt Duchene stating his talents were essentially held back by Joe Sacco and his system. When I look at this team and (prior to Vanek deal) see minor changes from last year's roster... I can't understand why they're playing so significantly worse. Maybe Sacco has something to do with it more than we're considering. I mean, Rolston ran the team for the majority of the shortened season last year. They didn't look this terrible that whole time and while I get that they miss Pominville, I don't really believe moving Regehr and Leopold really hurt the team that much. This team is playing like what the Avalanche looked like the past 2 years, especially last year. Now if we brought in Sacco to secure the top pick (like the Avs had this past year's draft) then so be it. But I'm floored that I haven't seen one parallel between the Duchene story and Sacco coming to Buffalo and how horrible this team looks nearly every night now. Seriously, think about it... makes a lot of sense.
